Our application process is simple and straightforward, because we want to get to know candidates as individuals. To start, we highly encourage candidates to attend a virtual information session. They are designed to give candidates the opportunity to ask any and all questions, as well as meet the Residency team and current Residents.
Prepare materials and submit your application here.
Early admission applications are due by November 8, with decisions made by early January. Priority admissions applications are due by February 7. Application deadlines may be extended, pending program availability.
The application includes:
As part of the application, you will share with us your preferences for teaching elementary students, middle/high school students, and/or students with disabilities. If you’re not sure, that’s okay — we can help you consider which might be the best fit for you!
Following the submission of the online application, we’ll conduct a phone interview to discuss your application responses, and to learn more about you and your prior experiences.
The next step is a final round group interview conducted virtually with members of our team. The face-to-face interview includes a small group discussion with other applicants, an opportunity to share why you are a good fit for the Marshall Teacher Residency, and a traditional one-on-one interview. We will provide you with materials prior to the interview to help you prepare, as well as the opportunity to attend a virtual interview preparation session if you have questions or want to practice prior to your interview.
After your final interview, we will contact your three professional references to conduct a reference check.
In order to enroll in the program, you will schedule a one-on-one enrollment check-in with a faculty member, where we’ll review the enrollment agreement, your progress on the testing requirements, and share information about our financial aid partners.
Welcome to the program! We look forward to having you as a member of our next Teacher Residency cohort.
If you’ve attended a virtual information session and reviewed information about the Marshall Teacher Residency, you’re ready to apply! You can fill out an application at any time, and please be aware of early decision deadlines.

“This might be the best teacher credentialing program I have ever heard of. I have received hands-on training from a teacher in the classroom as well as engaging in coursework that feels more meaningful than anything I have participated in before…. Every aspect felt intentional and clearly driven toward the goal of creating teachers who are competent and can succeed in empowering students of any background… While engaging in this program, I have been part of a community that is 100% focused on supporting me. If you truly wish to become a teacher of outstanding quality, the people at [Marshall Teacher Residency] will do everything in their power to help you grow AND make sure that you find a job when you graduate from the program.”
