The Marshall Teacher Residency began in 2014 to develop powerful teachers across the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, we serve regions across California, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Fresno, and Los Angeles. We partner with public schools that align with our values and goals to develop student-centered, anti-racist classrooms.
During the application process, we collect your preferences on both credential area and school site placement. School site placements are finalized in May and June, after all incoming Residents are enrolled, and are dependent on availability of high quality Cooperating Teachers.
We partner with schools and districts in regions across the state of California:

Schools choose to partner with us because they care deeply about diversifying their teaching staff and supporting the training and development of new teachers. School partners agree to host residents in their classrooms for the full residency year, so that Residents can learn from experienced teachers and have hands-on teaching practice. At the end of the residency year, school partners prioritize hiring our Residents for their open teaching roles.
We encourage all interested applicants to join our mailing list to stay on top of program tips, deadlines, and information. Please also feel free to email us with any questions, including how we can help you make the best choice for your career next step, at residency@summitps.org.
